VOLUNTEER & TESTER GUIDE
PHYSICAL DEVICES
How to Test Native iOS & Android Apps
Follow these simple instructions to test live church prototypes on your own physical smartphone or tablet with 100% native performance.
LIVE QR CODE
Scan with phone camera
Where to Find Your QR Code
1. Instant Mobile Web Preview (Scan Right Here)
Point your phone camera directly at the QR code on the left to immediately load sanjiv.co.in in your mobile browser.
2. Native Expo Go App QR Code (Local Dev Machine)
When running npx expo start in your computer terminal, Metro Bundler prints a terminal QR code AND automatically opens http://localhost:8081 displaying the live native QR code specifically for Expo Go.
3. Remote Testing over the Internet (No Shared Wi-Fi)
Run npx expo start --tunnel. Expo will generate a global tunnel QR code that volunteers can scan from anywhere in the world!
iPhone & iPad (iOS)
Requires iOS 15.1 or newer
1
Open the Apple App Store and install the free Expo Go app.
2
Open your built-in iOS Camera app and point it at the QR code generated by the host.
3
Tap the yellow “Open in Expo Go” banner at the bottom of the camera screen.
Android Devices
Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel, etc.
1
Open the Google Play Store and install the free Expo Go app.
2
Launch the Expo Go app directly on your phone.
3
Tap “Scan QR code” inside Expo Go and aim at the host computer screen.
Important: Native View vs. Web Browser View
Scanning the QR code using a generic phone camera without Expo Go will only open the static web version in Safari/Chrome. To test genuine native mobile components (bottom tab navigation, fluid sermon scrubber, dynamic island insets, and native keyboard shifts), always launch via the Expo Go client.
Same Local Wi-Fi (Church / Office)
Connect phone and computer to the same Wi-Fi router. Start the development server with:
npx expo start
Remote Testing (Any Network / Home)
If volunteers are testing remotely or on cellular data, use Expo Tunnel to connect over the internet:
npx expo start --tunnel
Standalone Installable Packages (No Developer Terminal Needed)
For long-term volunteer testing without running a developer server, standalone builds can be installed directly:
• Android APK: Direct installable .apk file downloaded to phone that installs like a standard Android app.
• iOS TestFlight: Distributed to volunteer Apple IDs via Apple TestFlight for official beta review.
